In the first workshop we were introduced to the basics of flash. We were taught about and experimented with layers, shapes, symbols, their functions and what you can manipulate them into doing. This gave some insight into what needs to be done to create an interactive product. By the end of the workshop, we had created this scene which you interact with when you hover your mouse over the pills. When you do this they change colour and when you click on them they navigate to another page.
Because the app version of our project (Sweet Hostage) is all about yes/no choices, the way this coding technique operates means that it is the perfect starting point for the game. This way we can put together a clearly structured prototype/mini version of the game if we were to make it.
In the second flash and coding workshop, I learned how to code and manipulate chosen symbols to act in a way that I want to. I used code Dreamweaver to code the symbols(pills) in the Matrix image to go to two separate pages.
This will lay down the basic principle of the Sweet Hostage structure. Yes? Go this way. No? Go that way. We will just have to do this process with our own material, drawings, photographs, dialogue e.t.c but repeat over and over again. We have also discussed video snippets which will only be accessible at certain points throughout the game which can be coded in with this system.
